Fixation Video on Sky News. Kinda.

I was on Sky News discussing the rebranding of fish, stray dogs and ice shelves (all things I am more than qualified to talk about, honest). More exciting than that, though, is that I was there as Susi Weaser of Fixation Video. That was hella cool.

One step closer to FXD

A little while ago, we mentioned that as well as making videos for other people, we’d be making them for ourselves. Kind of. Well, us and you, really.

And we’re getting one stage closer. In the next couple of days, we’ll be able to unveil the clip we’ll be putting at the beginning of the show. And whilst that might not seem that exciting to you, to be able to send an email to a brilliant designer, and an amazing noise guy, and have them return with A Wonder, is a pretty remarkable thing in my inbox.

We can’t tell you just what the show’s going to involve yet, but we’re hoping to uncover the coolest stuff in town, debate the lamest technology around and perhaps involve you, Twitter and some voice simulation technology that will make your comments sound way cooler than you’d ever be able to speak them.

Things that we have loved

A marvellous side effect of starting an online video production company is that you can spend hours watching videos online and call it work. And research. And competitor analysis. And everyone knows, throw a few of those phrases around and people feel too inferior so don’t ask why it doesn’t look like you’ve slept in four days.

Here’s things we’ve loved:

When I found this, I watched it at least three times - it’s like the ultimate calming experience. Also, I love the music, which is kinda Beirut-y. Which reminds me - I must make friends with someone in Beirut so they will lend us their music royalty free.

If you ever feel like the prefix ‘Extreme-’ is being cheapened by people ironing in their pants whilst their hair is on fire, watch this video. This is extreme sheep hearding at its best. I’m not sure if there was much competition for that title, but it is freakin’ awesome.

It’s not often I wish my X-Men skill was skateboarding. But it’s not never.

There can be no sufficiently epic title for this first post

Oh my god. So, this is it, right? Fixation Video is *so* on.

We’ve finally hit that big orange button on our sparkly new fixationvideo.com, and all systems are go. It’s a work in progress, and we’ll be adding heaps more content as we get it, so it’s worth checking back to see what’s new.

This is also only the beginning for Fixation Video. We mentioned that we’re going to be working on a weekly show, which is going to be available for your delectation on a nice predictable weekly basis imminently. We’re also in the process of filming lots of exciting stuff for exciting people, which we’re excited about.

Finally, whilst Will has been building the website, I’ve been adding value left, right and center by plastering London Underground with stickers of our logo. I’m like a really rubbish Banksy. But please do let me know if you see one, as I believe I can then claim the cost of them back as ‘marketing materials’. Just like Banksy.

Thanks for checking out the site, by the way. I feel a bit like a mother bird pushing her chick out of the nest in the hope that it’ll learn to use its wings on the way down, making your unique visit, I think, the wind, in this shocking analogy.

PS. That orange in the logo is the closest to Pantone 805 that we could use.

It’s easier to show you the kind of thing we do than to write about it, which is why we’ve created this handy showreel. Take a look.
